This summer, your child won’t just perform in a musical - they’ll help create one!!! Welcome to Build-a-Musical, a one-week creative adventure where imagination leads the way, students become story tellers, and so much magic happens - on stage and off! REGISTER TODAY! DATES: Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12 TIME: 9am–4pm LOCATION: BIG Studio Omaha – 20109 Franklin Circle, Suite 1, Elkhorn, NE 68022 CAMP AGES: Ages 7–14 COST: $325 ($275 for early bird registration by Feb 1) PERFORMANCE: Friday, June 12 at 5pm ***This will be a ticketed event. MORE ABOUT BUILD-A-MUSICAL: This musical theatre experience is designed for students ages 7–14 (just finished 1st grade through just finished 8th grade) who love to imagine, collaborate, and create. Over the course of one exciting week, students will work together to build an original mini-musical from the ground up using songs by Karen Sokolof Javitch and techniques from devised theatre, which is a creative process where the story is shaped by the ideas, voices, and creativity of the group. That means: Students help invent characters Scenes and story moments are created together Music, movement, and storytelling grow organically through guided play and exploration. Rather than memorizing a pre-written script, campers collaborate with their peers and director Jeannette Galup to bring a brand-new musical to life - one that reflects their ideas and their creativity. Students will work collaboratively as a full group and also break into smaller groups based on age and experience, ensuring everyone feels supported and successful. The week culminates in a fully staged performance on Friday evening, where families get a front-row seat to see what can happen when young artists are trusted to create boldly. Rehearsals run from 9am–4pm daily. Drop-off begins at 8:45am and pick-up is promptly at 4pm. Students should plan to: - Dress to move - Bring a water bottle - Bring a snack and sack lunch - Bring their creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to try something new No prior theatre experience is required! Just imagination and a brave heart!
