Jeannette Lazara Galup is a Miami native, proud daughter of Cuban immigrants, and a lifelong theatre artist and educator. She holds a B.A. in Theatre from Florida International University, where she directed For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf and And Baby Makes 7. She is a former high school drama teacher and Florida Thespian Troupe sponsor for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. For over a decade, she led a children’s theatre program, nurturing young performers and fostering a love of the stage.
Jeannette first moved to Omaha in 2018 and continues to put down roots and build connections in the community; she serves as the Resident Acting Teacher at BIG Studio in Elkhorn and has directed productions including Newsies Jr., Finding Nemo Kids, and The Lion King Kids. She is also the Artistic Director for Andy Williams and the Nebraska All-Stars, a Cuban orchestra celebrating Cuban music and culture.
Jeannette looks forward to directing "In the Heights" at Ralston Community Theatre in the summer of 2027 and is proud to bring her cultural background and diverse experiences to the Midwest, inspiring the next generation of performers with creativity, discipline, and joy.
